I was able to get the modified djsvs driver to install successfully and recognize the scanner. Not only did I have to uninstall the driver and start over, I had to remove the driver from the DriverStore folder using pnputil per the instructions at the following link:.

That 2940u2e driver is sufficient to run a scanner because doing such does not require an ASPI layer. On the download, there are three files. In the next window, enter the location of the djsvs. The drivers got installed after adding the device as a legacy hardware from the device manager but it fails to start.
