Matrox released a newer version of the Mystique in In more generic terms the DPU is a bare pixel pipeline. Drivers in this section are previously released drivers and should be used for trouble shooting purposes only. Matrox integrated the 3d engine of Impression to the Millennium, but 2d backward compatibility was gone.
With both of my boards I did not find memory clock to be very limiting. Z-buffer with 16 bit bus was optional. Very few games took advantage of the 3D capabilities of Impression Plus, with the only known games being the three titles that were bundled with the card in its ‘3D Superpack’  CD bundle: Without support for texturing, the cards were very limited in visual enhancement capability.
Quake games look just as bad like d3d titles, for all the hardware limitations. First Millennium is specified as 50 MHz but 60 is a more common clock.
